From an early age, it was clear that Russell Bierke was cut from a different cloth than the other groms. So when his Pops finally gave him the green light, Bierke took that torch and ran with it – under his dad’s wing, of course. From a slabbing session with Kelly Slater at just 15 years old to winning the Red Bull Cape Fear contest earlier this year, Bierke’s progression has soared during his past few years on the big-wave scene.
