Places to stay
There isn’t much legal camping around Black’s, maybe because it’s one of the most expensive places to live in California and the world.
These are hotels with La Jolla in the name we found through Google.
La Jolla hotels are generally not budget and you might want to go into the flats at Mission Beach and Pacific Beach and find something reasonable.

Food La Jolla has everything from gauche to gourmet.
Parking From the north, follow the signs to the Torrey Pines Glider Port, park in the lot closest to the blufftop, and then walk very carefully down the dirt path. From the south, park along La Jolla Farms Drive, near UCSD, and walk down the paved road that leads to the beach. It's behind a gate that's designed to keep cars out but let pedestrians through. Or hit the beach at Scripps and walk north on low tide.
Access and Directions
Jump! Or, slip your surfboard into your golf bag at Torrey Pines Municipal Course. Or drive to the end of the Torrey Pines Glider Port, say a silent “Thank you” to Woody Brown and walk down the path. Or, park along La Jolla Farms Drive where you see other surfcars and ask a bro where the path is. Or walk up from Scripps, or take a boat. Attractions
Got golf? Torrey Pines is a public course, believe it or not, and if there is a better municipal golf course in California, we’ll eat our hat. Torrey Pines is actually two courses, north and south, but they are equally good.
That par-5 18th on the south course is a sumbitch that nearly cost Tiger Wood the Buick Invitational Championship in 2005. Trying to reach the green in two with a one-shot lead, he hit a 2-iron so badly that it landed on a strip…
Golf? Boring. Driving around La Jolla oohing and aahing at all the high dig houses is fun, or go to Windansea and get vibed.
If the surf isn’t cooperating, check out the Wave House San Diego in Mission Beach. They have a FlowRider there for novices and also the infamous Bruticus Maximus if you want to get freaky and test your boarding skills. Also a good place to eat, drink and be merry.
