Sun Diego Welcomes Damien Hobgood to Team
Sun Diego would like to welcome 12 year WCT veteran Damien Hobgood to our surf team! Damo, who is known for his mental style and crazy barrel riding skills, is a current San Diego resident and one of the coolest humans you will ever meet. Damien Hobgood was born in Satellite Beach, Florida and is the brother of 2004 ASP World Champion C.J. Hobgood.
Damien joined the ASP World Qualifying Series in 1998. In 2000, after just two years on the WQS, Hobgood qualified for the ASP World Championship Tour. He then went on to win rookie of the year!
While on the WCT, Damien Hobgood has won four events—most recently in 2007 at Teahupo’o, Tahiti. He also won in 2004 at Cloudbreak in Tavarua, Fiji, in 2005 at Imbituba, Brazil, and then again at Cloudbreak in 2006. Always consistent, Damien has 5 top 10 finishes in the past 11 seasons on the pro tour and has finished in the top 16 nine times.
