SEVEN TIKI® Sponsors 2010 New York Surf Film Festival

Events throughout the festival will feature SEVEN TIKI as official rum of the event

Coral Gables, Fla. — September 21, 2010 — SEVEN TIKI® Spiced Rum, a Fijian rum with spices and other natural flavors, today announced its sponsorship of the 2010 New York Surf Film Festival. The festival includes 10 officially selected feature-length films and 2 cult classics being screened Friday, September 24, through Sunday, September 26, at the legendary Tribeca Cinemas in lower Manhattan.

Commenting on the SEVEN TIKI sponsorship of the series of gatherings and movie premiers surrounding the festival, Billy Melnyk, senior brand manager for SEVEN TIKI, stated, “The amount of talent and art that is showing this year is unbelievable, and to be able to meet the men and women who make the movies is a great opportunity.  I first saw Lino online and can’t wait to see it on the big screen. And to see Dark Fall, 180 Degrees South, STS, they’re all amazing. I’m also excited to see God Went Surfing With The Devil. Great weekend to be a surf film admirer!”

Per their Web site, “The New York Surf Film Festival is an event consisting of three days of screenings of independent short and feature films, cult classics, and world premieres from established surf filmmakers. In between screenings, we will be hosting a surf history lecture series, Q&A Sessions with filmmakers and notable surfers, Panel Discussions, and Meet & Greets. We will also be curating a Surf Art Gallery to be open to the public for the duration of the weekend. Please contact us if you are interested in showcasing your work. We will be screening films across all categories.”

While at the screenings legal drinking age guests will have the opportunity to sample SEVEN TIKI leading Melnyk to comment, “The surfing culture is so deep with creativity that being part of this event was a natural fit for our brand.”

About SEVEN TIKI

SEVEN TIKI is a Fijian rum made from the finest Polynesian sugar cane, sun-baked Indonesian nutmeg, Madagascar vanilla beans, other exotic spices and untouched water to produce a full-bodied, smooth premium rum specialty. SEVEN TIKI is crafted in honor of brave Polynesian Navigators, known as the Great Fleet, who set out in seven canoes from Hawaiki in search of the land of the long white cloud, Aotearoa.  These brave watermen carved a Tiki into the helm of each canoe so that it would cast a shadow to the East or West and keep the voyage true.  SEVEN TIKI is crafted and in honor of these legendary gods and intrepid navigators. Think autumn or spring for that matter in New York. Its not to warm or not to cold just beautiful weather and having the oppertunity to stroll around in New York and take in all the sites, such as Manhattan. It can’t get much better than that.
