ERGO Team Rider Wins Smith Optic Grudge Match in New Jersey

LAKEWOOD, NJ., (Aug. 27, 2009) – ERGO would like to give a big pat on the back to team rider, Brendan Buckley, who pulled off a win at the 2009 Smith Optics Grom Grudge Match in Seaside Park, NJ.

Buck kept the crowd and judges on their toes as he unleashed an unconventional contest-surfing arsenal, featuring progressive jumping maneuvers and violent lip smashes, on the rest of the field. When it was all said and done, Belmar, New Jersey’s nastiest grom left the finals victorious and $1500 richer than fellow Jersey ripper and former East Coast Champ, Rob Kelly, in punchy shoulder-high surf, courtesy of our homie Bill.

“Buck isn’t generally a competition surfer, so a win out of him is rad,” says ERGO surf team manager, Matt Keenan. “We don’t really push our guys to surf contests. We would rather encourage them to get involved in the events they care about and that make sense for them, so we are always psyched on a good result!”
