Ben Bourgeois and Friends Head East for the 5th Annual Reef/Sweetwater Pro-Am

Carlsbad, CA – July 8th, 2009 – The 5th annual Reef/Sweetwater Pro-am, the largest surf event on the East Coast, is set to kick off July 10th. Ben Bourgeois, and a slew of Reef talent are headed to Wrightsville Beach, NC where a competitive mix of international and local East Coast surfers will also convene to showcase their goods. With just a few days to go, The 5th annual Reef/ Sweetwater Pro–Am surf fest is lining up to be another solid event. A promising swell forecast, a tow-at air show, a premiere of “Spectacular Adventure”, a Reef Fashion Show, and a contest entry list of 96 professional surfers from around the world will comprise the three-day event.

Former event champions include professional surfers Rob Machado, Aaron Cormican, Asher Nolan, and Jeremy Johnston. Returning to this year’s event line-up is former ASP World Championship tour standout and hometown hero, Ben Bourgeois.

“It’s such a trip to come to my hometown and participate in this now epic summer tradition,” states Bourgeois. “We’ve been fortunate with the conditions in the past, so we’ll hope for more of the same so we can put on a good show.”

Other pros attending include Tonino Benson, Mike Losness, Heath Walker, Gabe Garcia, Brendan Petticrew, Sean Marceron, Ross Stevens, and Phillip Watters.

Amateur divisions include Guys 15-up, Guys 14-under, Guys Open Longboard,Women18-up, Girls 17-under, Women’s Open Longboard, the Guppy division, featuring young, beginning surfers, and the crowd favorite Tow-At Expression Session. All amateurs will walk away with great prize packages.
