After the final event in Portugal last week, the field of potential 2014 World Tour surfers was solidified. Most notably, next year will see the absence of the remaining Tour veterans: Rebecca Woods (who’s been on Tour since 2005), Silvana Lima (who’s been on Tour since 2006), and former World Champ Sofia Mulanovich, who announced her retirement after 10 years on Tour. And with the qualification of another crop of young rookies, 25-year-old Steph Gilmore becomes the oldest woman on Tour (just for comparison, 80% of the men’s Tour are 25 or older). Other surfers who will be relegated back to the WQS next year include Sage Erickson, and 2013 Tour rookies Alize Arnaud, Phillipa Anderson, and Sarah Mason.
