Behind the Numbers: Finished 11th in the world on his rookie season, despite missing the last two events due to injury. He bombed out in the first round only once, in the first event of the season.

Heading into 2007: Sadly, Reyes was heading back under the knife as of press time, as the damage to his knee that took him out late season was more serious than first thought. The best-case scenario is that he’s back in time for Trestles, because he’s got a long, hard recovery ahead of him. But last year’s unsung hero has exactly what it takes to pull a Mick Fanning. Patience and perseverance will pay off huge. He’s Top 10 with his eyes closed once he’s back full time.
