Tonic Launches New Eco-Friendly Surf Skin and Hair Care Product

La Jolla, CA – Lauren Otonicar, President and owner of Tonic, announces today the launch of her environmentally-friendly hair and skin care product line specifically geared towards those who enjoy being outdoors. The Tonic line of products is custom-formulated with UV inhibitors, is free of sulfates and parabens and is designed for beach-goers and water enthusiasts who love sun, surf and style. The La Jolla, California based company has also brought on world-renowned photographer, Aaron Chang, to lead the visual marketing efforts on behalf of the brand.

A self-professed surf and style junkie, Otonicar began to grow weary of dropping large sums of money each month on hair services to fix the damage left behind by the ravaging effects of the sun and salt water. After months of unsuccessful searching, Otonicar knew there was a void in the marketplace for high quality, high performance products that would not only give her gorgeous locks but also provide protection against nature’s harsh elements.
“As someone who is out in the sun and water daily, I was inspired to develop a product line for surfers and stylists alike. Tonic’s mission is really based on simple, root philosophies: the love of surfing and doing our part to preserve the environment,” says Otonicar. “Launching Tonic has proven to be an amazing journey and I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with some of the most talented and innovative leaders in the hair care and surfing industries, specifically Aaron Chang. Aaron’s limitless talent, benevolent principles and entrepreneurial spirit embody everything this brand is about.”

The 100% non-toxic Tonic line consists of three exceptional products, each formulated to restore strength and health to hair.

Threesome: An innovative all-in-one hair care solution for the active waterman looking to get rid of a little extra baggage (and salt). Threesome is a high performance shampoo, conditioner and body wash in one convenient bottle. Threesome contains a powerful cleansing formula that utilizes a blend of proteins enriched with vitamin B5 to help eliminate salty hair and skin that results from those long sessions. Infused with natural peppermint and tea tree oils to create a multi-sensory experience and stimulating tingle. Threesome replenishes moisture to tired hair and cools skin worn by the elements.

Luster: A leave-in conditioning mist with powerful UV-inhibitors and natural botanical oils designed to protect hair from the damaging effects of sun, salt, wind and chlorine. Formulated for use before and after outdoor exploits, Luster is the answer to split ends, breakage and dry, tangled hair. Blended with aloe leaf extract which acts as an emollient and absorbs ultra-violet light. The unique cream-to-mist technology doubles as a luxurious moisturizer that hydrates dry skin and leaves a subtle scent of remote tropical island. Think French West Indies meets the Caribbean with a delicious blend of vanilla, banana and a hint of sparkling orange extract.

The Chronic: The Chronic shampoo and conditioning system is formulated with the highest quality ingredients and was specifically developed for the care and preservation of color treated hair. The rich cleansing formula utilizes a blend of proteins to add manageability and shine. The penetrating moisturizer acts as a healing agent to hydrate hair and add volume. Tonic uses organic plant and floral aromas to add a refreshing quality to all of its products. The Chronic shampoo and conditioner is designed for the distinguished, color and style conscious client.

Tonic products are formulated and manufactured in the United States and are currently available in select surf shops, fine salons and online.
