On Thursday in Hawaii, competitive surfing bid adieu to a legend. Thanks TK. Photo: Glaser

After more than 20 years of competitive surfing, Taylor Knox has hung up his singlet and begun his transition into a different role as an ambassador for Rip Curl. After surfing his final heat at the Pipe Masters, Knox gathered with family and friends on the North Shore to celebrate his storied career late into the night.

I saw Taylor surfing in an early Steamer lane contest on tv. I knew right away he would be an old style power surfer. He had the same power that Michael Peterson had when I first saw him at sunset in 74″.

The X Games got it right. Hopefully the surf industry will follow and boot Sal Masekela.#dumpsal
