JUST ADD WATER: Quiksilver Premieres Clay Marzo Movie In Style

Quiksilver’s much-anticipated release, Clay Marzo: Just Add Water made its worldwide debut in style last night at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa, CA. With a nearly packed house, tons of freebies floating around, and a special performance by Pinback, a surfer couldn’t have asked for much more. Most came with an appetite for Marzo’s contortionist tail-bashing, and all left completely satiated. Some may have gotten much more than they bargained for by learning Clay’s story – an intimate look at his struggle with Aspergers, a form of autism.

“Strider said that we need movies that will change the perception of the surf world – movies that tell stories,” said E! Entertainment’s Daily 10 host, Sal Masekela. “That’s what this is.”

The film delves not only into the science of his inverted hacks, but also his lifelong social struggles – bringing awareness to the condition not only for himself but afflicted children around the world. A portion of the film’s proceeds will be donated to Surfer’s Healing Foundation, an organization formed by Izzy Paskowitz that exposes autistic children to the gift of surfing. At 2000 strong, the organization has already made an impact from Malibu, CA to Manasquan, NJ.

“This is going to be so incredible that Bob [McKnight], Strider, and Clay don’t even know,” said Surfer’s Healing Founder Izzy Paskowitz. “This is such a worldly project. Surfing has been such a godsend, and can help to enrich the lives of autistic children all over the world.”

Says Marzo, ““It feels so much different in the water. I feel like I’m at home.”

So when the film becomes available for purchase in October and you’re feeling the need for progressive surfing and an inspirational story to boot – just add dvd player.
