According to a report from the Sydney Morning Herald, the flood that has ravaged Queensland has finally peaked, reaching a height lower than previously expected.
Though the flooding is far from over, the immense devastation has prompted many, including the Gold Coast surf community, to reach out for support for the flood victims. Mick Fanning released this statement on his blog earlier today, encouraging surfers to help out: “Major flooding in Queensland has seen entire towns destroyed, homes swept away and lives lost. The severity of the situation is almost impossible to communicate. Queensland needs our help. Please go to http://telethon.smartservice.qld.gov.au/ to make an online donation now.”
