WATCH IT LIVE THIS WEEKEND – JULY 7 AND 8

The Nike 6.0 Pro Jr. will take place on July 7th and 8th on the US’s biggest surf stage, Huntington Beach, CA. Featuring the world’s best and most progressive surfers from ASP Junior World Pro Junior Series, the Pier Pressure provides a vital stepping-stone to the World Qualifying Series (WQS) and the World Championship Tour (WCT).

Offering an opportunity to earn maximum points toward the 2008 Billabong World Junior Championships, the Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure draw pits top-rated Junior competitors from around the world against the highest rated North Americans. Qualifying through their results at the 2007 Billabong World Juniors, up to six of the highest rated surfers from Australia, Japan, Africa, Europe, South America and Hawaii will receive seeds into the event to compete against the field of North Americans. All the American surfers have been seeded into the events based on their ASP North America Junior Grade results from last year.

The Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure offers a $10,000 prize purse to competitors who were 19 years of age or under as of January 1, 2007.

The ASP Junior Grade Series is a global tour that offers an important competitive arena for emerging professional surfers interested in developing their competitive skills. The Junior Tour culminates each year with the Billabong World Junior Championships, where the top five surfers from each ASP region compete for the World Junior Title. Past winners include Andy Irons, Joel Parkinson and Adriano de Souza. This year, there are 10 scheduled North American events for domestic competitors to accumulate qualification points. And while this increase from previous year’s schedule presents the surfers with greater opportunities to accumulate those points, an intense competitive draw, makes it crucial for each to perform at their peak in every heat. Three-quarters of their results will count towards their overall year-end standing, with the top five surfers receiving a seed into the Billabong World Junior Championships. The Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure will provide opportunities for North American to earn these coveted qualifying points and international surfers a shot at the money.

The Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure is proud to participate in the 50th anniversary celebration of Jack’s Surfboards one of the oldest and largest surf shops in California, making this one of the premiere events on the beach this summer. If you can’t make it down to the celebration make sure you watch the live webcast July 7th and 8th.
