LOBITOS, Piura/Peru (Thursday, November 5, 2009) – The Movistar Peru Classic presented by Rip Curl, Event No. 5 of 7 on the 2009 ASP Women’s World Tour, has been called on with Round 1 commencing in clean two-foot (1 metre) waves at Lobitos at 8am.
“We’ve seen a definite increase in swell size plus we have nice, clean conditions so we have decided to run the first round,” Richie Porta, ASP Women’s World Tour Head Judge, said. “Due to the wind that comes up mid-morning, we need to factor in having just half days of clean conditions and so we want to utilize them as best we can.”
Up first this morning will be Melanie Bartels (HAW), 27, Rebecca Woods (AUS), 25, and Alana Blanchard (HAW), 19, doing battle in Heat 1 Round 1 of the Movistar Peru Classic.
