Today American forces arrived in Haiti to provide humanitarian relief to the poorest country in the Americas after the devastating earthquake of January 12, 2010. With government buildings collapsed and the country in disarray, fatality estimates have climbed to nearly 200,000. Despite the carnage, it appears that the world’s efforts have begun to have some impact. According to reports, commerce and restorative activity has begun in Port au Prince as the number of relief troops climbs to 12,000 after a motion by the United Nations.
