Fifty Years Of SURFER: A Tribute To Ron Stoner

In coordination with SURFER’s fifty year anniversary and as part of its mission to preserve and archive, the Surfing Heritage Foundation has been working with SURFER Magazine to protect the sport’s most important collection of surf photography. Starting with the Ron Stoner images, the Foundation has been digitally scanning, color correcting and meta-tagging all of Ron’s old transparencies. The work, done in house by SHF Photo Editor Steve Wilkings, includes replacing old mounts and cross-referencing the images for easier retrieval.
It’s been a time consuming and expensive process, supported by SURFER and largely by SHF member donations. The images are remarkable and will help the Foundation produce exhibits and save the images in perpetuity. We hope you enjoy some of these Ron Stoner digital scans.
Be on the lookout for more classic material both online and in print as SURFER will be celebrating its fiftieth year documenting the world of surf.

Where can I buy these T-shirts? Or is this just a tease, a way to let your customers know that you have no respect for their business?
That blade cuts both ways, you know, Surfer Mag.

I would also like to know how to get the Stoner tees. I saw it in the mag can’t find it on the site. Do I assume 200 shirts sell out a few minutes after midnight on the first of the month?

Where on your website can I find the Ron Stoner Collection t-shirts you advertised to be available monthly beginning Jan. 1, 2012? I cannot find them anywhere! I have called twice and nobody knows what I’m talking about !

It’s fitting you have a photo of Ron Stoner at Riviera. He and his roommate, Steve Kroll, used to hang there.
