The Quiksilver Surf Shop Challenge presented by Surfer Final date has been announced!

The ultimate shop Championship tentatively scheduled to run Saturday, September 18th during The Boost Mobile Pro presented by Quiksilver, held at Lower Trestles, San Clemente, CA September 15th-18th & 20th, 2004.

Originally conceived to provide a fun, competitive format to the hardest of the hardcore-surf shop surf teams-the SURFER Shop Team Challenge was one of the most anticipated contest events of the early 1980s. Taking place exclusively in Southern California, the Shop Challenge was an annual opportunity to put sales numbers aside and settle the score in the water.

You think those '80s pros went hard? Put a colored jersey on a shop rat, give him 15 minutes to release all that energy pent up from sitting behind the counter all day, mix in the already intense regional competition between surf shops and you had the making of a battle royale.

Nothing has changed. This summer, after a long absence from the competition calendar, the Shop Challenge has re-imerged as the Quiksilver Surf Shop Challenge presented by Surfer with a roster of sponsors supporting the shops that includes DC shoes, Boost Mobile, Snapple, ASR, and Surf Expo.

The competition will be fierce as 96 teams compete across 4 regions for a chance to take the glory home for their shop. If that's not motivation enough, the winning team from each of the four regions (South Carolina to Florida, North Carolina to Maine, San Diego to Orange County, and Seal Beach to Santa Cruz) gets to duke it out for the overall title during the Boost Mobile Pro at Lower Trestles this September for a $10,000 winner takes all prize purse and a full-page color ad in Surfer magazine!
