Dane should warm up next time on a McDonald’s cafeteria tray, he was selling himself short and look where it left him.

That’s definlessly an Alaia mate. I saw it on you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfr1LcdKsPQ Tom is making all kinds of this stuff from wood to foam and who knows what else… cool to see competitive surfers really embracing the idea.. Rob said it.

I want one. I saw them at the Noosa Festival over in Oz this year and they looked super fun – all glide no drag.
Surpised how much thought had actually gone into the design. They were a lot more complex up close than it looked from further away. There’s obviously a lot of thought going on there. Can’t wait to see the footage of Dane, I’m sure someone caught it.

The board is a Tom Wegener – Foam Tuna. He has been experimenting with them for a while and sent one to Dane a while ago.

Dane has many years to do his thing Superior Being.. He obviously doesn’t give a fk.. he gets paid to be there, just to be there.. bonus for doing well, sure… and his only real job is to be there, show up, and make Quik look good.. that’s not hard for him.. Jordy got pushed through the whole way anyway.. I thought he lost to Owen ..

this is why dane got knocked out with 2+ points in his heat: instead of focusing on the reason he traveled halfway across the world — to compete — he’s screwing around on a POS down the point. Hey dane, you surf great, but man you are a knucklehead sometimes.

this is why every surfer worth his salt should worship Dane Reynolds: instead of hunkering down in the competitor’s area and watching his fellow bro-pros compete for points in colored jerseys, Dane is on a finless board, trimming and drifting and experimenting and having fun and…..actually surfing.

that’s not an alaia. it’s just a finless board. calling that an alaia is like calling an suv a truck. alaias are made from wood not body board foam.
