With the final event of the 2009 Women’s WQS all wrapped in Brazil this past weekend, Hawaiian Coco Ho has secured the 2009 ASP Women’s WQS World Title. Coco didn’t know that she had won the title until after the end of her first heat in Brazil. “I’m absolutely ecstatic!” said Coco.
“I have been focusing on the World Tour this year, and I’m having a good year there, so winning the WQS is such a great bonus for me.” Coco started the year strong with two 2nd place results at the 6-star in Portugal and 5-star in Margaret River.
2009 is Coco’s first full year on the ASP World Tour. With only three of the seven world tour events being held so far, anything could happen between now and the last event in Maui where the new world champ will be crowned. But with this WQS win under her belt, Coco will continue to hold her spot on the tour for 2010 along with fellow Volcom surfer Claire Bevilacqua who also has a confirmed spot on the world tour for 2010. Congratulations girls!!
