Carissa Moore Wins Billabong Pro Rio
Highlights from the final day in Brazil
Narrowly defeating World No. 2 Sally Fitzgibbons in the Final in Rio over the weekend, Carissa Moore secured her third win of the 2011 ASP season. With two events left this year–the Roxy Pro in Biarritz, France, in July and the U.S. Open in Huntington in August–Carissa Moore currently reigns over the World Rankings, with Sally not far behind. The event proved to be an unfortunate one for four-time World Champ Steph Gilmore, who’s yet to recover from a rocky start to the season back at Snapper in February. Her third-place finish was not enough to keep her in the running for a fifth world title. With no Women’s World Tour events on the schedule for the Hawaii season, it looks like the champ will be crowned mid-summer amid the madness of Surf City.
Final Highlights: Carissa Moore (14.87) def Sally Fitzgibbons (13.80)
