HELLO SUMMER READING: SURFER'S Big Issue Is Ready And Waiting

Here comes your summer reading, courtesy of SURFER. The Big Issue is hitting stands and inhabiting the greater part of your mailbox. Following the legacy of the Big Issue of August, SURFER provides larger-than-your computer screen photos, taking you front and center for international surf checks, in the barrel with the pros, even the Love Lounge with Steven “Sli Dawg” Chew.

“This year we’re giving people a very in-depth look at Kelly Slater. One we haven’t seen in a long time. I think the Slater profile will be remembered for a while.”

The editorial content in this Collector’s Edition will have you under your covers with a flashlight; breaking down surf travel with insight from the guy who literally wrote the book on Vagabonding, diving into Bali with Matt George, a look at South Africa with Jordy Smith and crew and a profile of the living legend, Kelly Slater at 36.

“As far as SURFER is concerned we’ve always taken a lot of pride in the quality of the editorial stuff,” said Editor Chris Mauro. “This year we’re giving people a very in-depth look at Kelly Slater. One we haven’t seen in a long time. I think the Slater profile will be remembered for a while.”

Flip the monstrous page to the Perfect Day with Andy Irons and Dane Reynolds and find out how the three-time champ really feels about the new kid on the block.

The magazine is fully loaded with the best of the surfing world and may take you longer than the month of July to absorb. “It’s one of those magazines that you keep going back to. You find something new every time you flip through it,” said Mauro, “There’s no way you’re going to take it all in after one sitting. That’s the best part about the Big Issue.”

So go hound the mail carrier or flock to the nearest magazine stand, it’ll be the Paul Bunyan-sized magazine with Jordy Smith on the cover, pulling out of a crystal-blue barrel. Enjoy.
