A Song About Surfer Mag

| posted on August 16, 2010

In the July issue we asked readers to tell us in 150 words or less why they deserve to take home one of a pair of Dick Dale signature guitars. The responses poured in–snail mail from prisoners, scarcely decipherable e-mails that were surely written by either drunkards or toddlers, sob stories from the poor, musically challenged, single, fat, and/or lonely.

But reader Darren Lee took the competition one step further, composing a 150-word song about why he’s entitled to the prize. We thought we’d share it. Because it’s awesome.

Congrats Darren, your guitar is in the mail. We look forward to your sophomore release in which you demonstrate your second-verse lyric (“With the guitar I will save the earth , Save mommas from a painful birth”).

Good luck with that.
