I’ve seen the Fiji footage like 100 times and Ramon Navarro’s wave was the best hands down. He is not even nomited? I think and many others that he shoul be nominated.

November 29, 2012 1:34 am

November 28, 2012 1:36 pm
I propose julians wilson´s barrel in the final of portugal for barrel of the year. And definitely kolohe andino for the heavy water. easy choices
November 27, 2012 6:19 am
NAVARRO´S FIJI BARREL IS ALREADY THE BEST TUBE OF THE YEAR, NO DOUBT AT ALL, MAYBE THE BEST TUBE OF THE DECADE, MAYBE IN HISTORY! I NEVER SEE IN MY ALL LIFE A BIGGEST, PERFECT AND DEEPEST TUBE LIKE THAT, SHAME ON YOU AND YOUR NOMINEES!!
November 26, 2012 9:45 pm
After re-watching the footage, I have to agree with everybody else. Ramon’s barrel definitely belongs in there as much- or more- than any of the other selections. That was a barrel that people will be talking about for years, as he really raised the bar and pushed the envelope on that one. I don’t think the same could be said for some of the other selections.

Embarassing…. NOT having Ramon Navarro´s Fiji barrel in this list???? BIASED
November 25, 2012 11:32 am
I DEMAND RAMON NAVARRO!!!
Seriously, this is a joke. Make it right.
November 23, 2012 2:25 pm
All of the surfers indicated in these categories are all amazing athletes, no one is disputing that, however…….. to not include Ramon Navarro’s barrel is a complete travesty……
it obvious I am not the only person who thinks this as well.
November 23, 2012 6:17 am
ADD RAMON NOW!!!!
November 23, 2012 3:16 am
①Ramon Navarro at cloud break
②Heath Joske at J-Bay during heat as Billabong pro
November 22, 2012 6:12 pm
No Navarro?! Wtf?!
November 22, 2012 2:53 pm
Seriously, how did you guys miss Navarro for barrel of the year? Second to Reef’s barrel, Navarro’s two were the best of the cloudbreak session. I remember the first time I saw that footage being in awe of the guy’s nuts charging!
November 22, 2012 11:45 am
Yes Navarro’s wave was amazing. DS best movie
November 21, 2012 9:00 pm
SURFER MAGAZINE!!!! I and pretty much the entire world of surfing are hereby
Formally requesting that you(Surfer Magazine) Immediatly AMEND the list of nominees to Include RAMON NAVARRO.
His tuberide was nothing less than Historic!!! I find it puzzeling that he was overlooked.Someone really ”screwed the pooch” on this one, I hope this was an oversight, and I’m sure the awesome staff at SURFER MAGAZINE,will correct this right away.I really hope SURFER staff read’s this, along with the other comments regarding RAMON NAVARRO,and all who read this also respond so we can be heard!!!!
November 21, 2012 3:49 am
Gotta agree with the guys – Where is Ramon Navarro’s nomination for Barrel?
Navarro at Cloudbreak
Dorian at Jaws
All others need not apply.
@mike – Slater was in the com booth
He paddled out just after the cameras stopped rolling
November 19, 2012 11:38 pm
the fiji footage is insane……john john , cj, gudausakas bros, …bruce, nate….all were present…but….where was SLater…seriously….is it me…or did the best competetive surfer in the world…eddie winner and 12x world champ puss out on the best cloudbreak swell ever…..he should be a little embarrassed that JJF is charging no vest…and Slater was at Restaurants
November 19, 2012 11:22 pm
and Wassell too…..guy is a maniac…..and should be considered for best barrel in Fiji….and wave of the year at jaws…
November 19, 2012 7:43 pm
@Ben D. Check your facts. Last year Year Zero won which was sponsored by SURFER’s main competitor Surfing. Modern Collective won the year before also sponsored by a competitor.
November 19, 2012 7:11 pm
The movies part of these awards are a political hoax. The films aren’t even voted, just decided by Surfer staff, so inevitably the Surfer sponsored movie wins every year. For years Taylor Steele boycotted these awards for this reason, but now he’s got a Surfer-sponsored film “This Time Tomorrow” so he has no choice but to accept his foregone conclusion of winning. Congratulations, Mr. Steele.
Think they’ll pick “Dear Suburbia” — made by the What Youth guys who snubbed them? Or “Here & Now,” sponsored by their main competitor Surfing. Ha! Be surprised if this comment even posted. Oh well… we all know the truth. Of course they can’t vote for their competitors.
November 19, 2012 6:21 pm
Couldn’t agree more w the others. How do u not have Ramon Navarro in there? I understand Surfer is US mag but surfing is international sport and its getting a little embarrassing as an American fan to see the Brazilians and other foreign surfers (except Aussies) get dissed year after year by surf media.
November 19, 2012 1:59 pm
How about Ramon Navarro for heavy water and barrel??
November 19, 2012 1:43 pm
Once again you gringos looking at your belly-button, no nominee for Ramon Navarro or Kohl Christensen?? Give me a break! Best Barrel, Heavy Water, open your eyes!
November 19, 2012 8:15 am
For the love of God will Fergal Smith ever be recognised for the heavy water award.
