Volcom Pipeline Pro is On in 15-Foot Surf

Pipeline, North Shore, Oahu, HI – (Jan. 31, 2010) – The Volcom Pipeline Pro is back on today in solid surf. Wave face heights are in the 15-foot-plus range. The event will run through to the quarter finals today, likely leaving semi-finals and the final for tomorrow morning, conditions pending.

The Round of 32 this-morning will feature some incredible matchups, including Heat 3 with Rob Machado, Nils Schweizer, John John Florence and Mark Healey; followed by Heat 4: Sunny Garcia, Clay Marzo, Bruce Irons and Kevin Sullivan.

Surfers from BRAZIL, AUSTRALIA, FRANCE, JAPAN, HAWAII and the US MAINLAND will be competing today. Highlight news footage and photos will be available at the end of the day.

This is Volcom’s first ever ASP event and is a critical component of the 2010 ASP Hawaii season, offering valuable points towards World Tour qualification, as well as wildcard berths into the December Pipeline Masters.

Volcom has always been dedicated to Hawaii – from supporting a team of world-class Hawaiian athletes and ambassadors, to giving back to the community through local charitable events, sponsorships and organizations. The Volcom Pipeline Pro is Volcom’s next step in their commitment to Hawaii.

FUEL TV will air a 30-minute wrap up show in America, Australia and Portugal at the conclusion of the event – details to be announced shortly.
