Lest you think surfing among mammals is restricted to dolphins, seals, and humans, feast your eyes on these humpback whales gliding unmolested into a set wave at Pipe. It’s a rare occurrence, and, according to the Internet, this may be the only photo of surfing whales in existence. While humpbacks are common in Hawaiian waters, they rarely venture so close to shore. Maybe they were just attracted by the lack of crowds.
