SURFER Launches All-Girls Surf Magazine

Salted Magazine Hits Newsstands Mid-August

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., July 30, 2012 – Introducing Salted, a brand-new all-girls magazine from the editors of SURFER Magazine. Featuring the best female surfers on the planet—including Stephanie Gilmore, Coco Ho, Sally Fitzgibbons, Carissa Moore, and many more—as well as trips to the most idyllic locales, profiles, interviews, history, fashion features, and more, Salted is a much-overdue homage to women’s surfing. Made with the quality, authenticity, and incredible imagery you’ve come to expect from SURFER Magazine, Salted is unlike any other magazine on the market.

“There are so many amazing female surfers right now and so many interesting stories that aren’t being told,” says SURFER Magazine Managing Editor, Janna Irons. “It’s great to finally give them the attention they deserve—and to have a home for all the beautiful images we’ve collected. Hitting newsstands August 14, Salted boasts nearly 100 pages of uninterrupted female surf content in an oversized, glossy format.

Salted by SURFER Magazine will be on newsstands until October 16, 2012. Find it at your local surf shop or bookstore. The digital version will also be available on the Apple Newsstand beginning August 15.

    So is this an all girl’s surf magazine or a one time thing? It seems like every time I pick up a “Girl’s” surf magazine something is lacking, usually something playful and raunchy. IDK, like how “Surfing” has a feature called “Girl in just a shirt” or more than one issue. I picked free one up at a surf swap only to find out it was over 10 years old. These things never seem to catch on. Don’t get me wrong, It would be sort of cool if one did, and I’m stoked you are taking another swing at it, but I think the reason they don’t is becuase we aren’t “Girl Surfers” we’re surfers.

    Of couse I bought it, and of course I loved it and read it cover to cover and memorized it. Don’t know why you bothered with a fashion spread when you could have used those pages for more surf pics, it’s not like we aren’t going to buy all the clothes anyway whether you give us a fashion spread or not. Also would have liked a few sequence pics, perhaps next issue? no wait? is this a one off thing? crap, here we go again. maybe an annual thing? Think about it, we’d buy it.
