Surfboard Manufacturers Vie for BEST OF SHOW at Sacred Craft Expo
Encinitas, Ca. (March 8, 2010) — The best of the best high performance surfboards and equipment will be on display during the two-day exposition at the Sacred Craft Consumer Surfboard Expo in Ventura, Ca. These exhibitors will be vying for the acclaimed “Best of Show” award given to the manufacturer that is on the cutting edge of performance, design, and manufacturing technique. The “Best of Show” winner will receive a 10′ x 10′ booth space at an upcoming Sacred Craft Expo.
“Of course all of the surfboards at Sacred Craft are incredible, so it makes picking the ‘Best of Show’ difficult,” said expo director Scott Bass. “We employ a covey of luminaries that walk the expo floor and check in with each other regarding their favorites. The not-so-anonymous experts are generally looking for a board that is creating a lot of buzz during the expo.”
Last October, in San Diego, Australian surfboard designer/shaper Daniel Thompson was awarded the 2009 “Best of Show” for his unique Raptor surf design. “A truly modern adaptation of the fish design,” said Thompson. Successfully combining (Steve) Lis style foils with performance shortboard refinement and a unique split diamond tail for low drag planing efficiency and a tighter turning radius at speed. Why surf when you can fly?”

About SACRED CRAFT CONSUMER SURF EXPO
In the beginning, it was all about the surfboard. The only thing that mattered. From ancient Polynesia to the ASP World Championship Tour; from Waikiki to Maverick’s; from The Endless Summer to Surfline; as the eras passed what we’ve worn or said or listened to or traveled to or read or watched are just sidebars on surfing’s timeline. Because the history of our sport is the history of the surfboard. Nothing has defined the surfing experience more than that on which we ride the waves. Nothing defines the surfer more than his (or her) surfboard. So much more than a tool, the surfboard has become a philosophical icon, a sacred craft, a culturally pervasive symbol of freedom, adventure and enduring youth.
