Surfing’s night of nights – the Surfer Poll & Video Awards – was held in Southern California this week, honouring the sport’s best surfers, photographers, film makers and industry folk alike.
The Rip Curl crew were there in force, shining on stage, on the red carpet and in the award list.
Reigning two-time ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore finally got her just-deserves and was awarded with the Best Female Surfer award for 2009.
Steph beat out perennial Surfer Poll Women’s Champion Sofia Mulanovich in second, Carissa Moore in third, Coco Ho in fourth and Rip Curl’s Alana Blanchard in fifth
As well as finishing fifth in the Best Female Surfer, Alana earned deserved props for her sexy look on the night, causing snapped necks left and right from everyone in the building (and watching the live webcast).
2007 ASP Men’s World Champ Mick Fanning was also on hand to pick up another Surfer Poll award, finishing fourth in the voting for Best Male Surfer.
