NEW YORK SURF FILM FESTIVAL PRESENTED BY JETBLUE AIRWAYS AND PUERTO PLATA OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC ANNOUNCES THE EAST COAST PREMIERE OF STOKED AND BROKE

New York, NY [September 6th, 2010] – The New York Surf Film Festival (NYSFF) presented by JetBlue Airways and Puerto Plata of the Dominican Republic is pleased to announce the east coast premiere of Cyrus Sutton’s Stoked and Broke, a unique film about surfers Ryan Burch and Cyrus Sutton setting off on a thirty mile, eight day walk through San Diego, CA. What began as a guide to taking a minimalist surfing journey quickly becomes an examination of freedom versus alienation. It’s a “staycation surfari” epic on zero dollars…

“Showing Stoked and Broke in the Big Apple will make all the surfing we missed this summer worth it!” states Stoked and Broke director, Cyrus Sutton.

Stoked and Broke is co-presented by the NYSFF and Korduroy.TV and will premiere Friday September 24th, 7:30 PM at Tribeca Cinemas.

About the 2010 NYSFF Sponsors:

NYSFF welcomes back our Presenting Sponsors, JetBlue Airways and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic:

JetBlue Airways

Voted “Most Eco-Friendly Airline” by Zagat’s Airline Survey in 2008 and 2009, New York based JetBlue Airways has created a new airline category founded on value, service and style. In 2010, the carrier also ranked “highest in customer satisfaction among low-cost carriers in North America” by J.D. Power and Associates, a customer satisfaction recognition received for the sixth year in a row. Known for its award-winning service, free TV and its low fares, JetBlue is now pleased to offer customers Lots of Legroom and super-spacious Even More Legroom seats. JetBlue introduced complimentary in-flight e-mail and instant messaging services on aircraft “BetaBlue,” a first among U.S. domestic airlines. JetBlue is also America’s first and only airline to offer its own Customer Bill of Rights, with meaningful and specific compensation for customers inconvenienced by service disruptions within JetBlue’s control. JetBlue serves 61 cities with 650 daily flights. New service to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, DC and to Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT begins in November. With JetBlue, all seats are assigned, all fares are one-way, and an overnight stay is never required. Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic (DR)

Christopher Columbus, the original sightseer of the Dominican Republic’s North Coast, named the area’s first city Puerto Plata or “Silver Port” in 1942 due to the effect that the sun made on the water as his ship approached land. Today, the DR’s North Coast is the perfect combination of both relaxation and adventure, as Puerto Plata and surrounding beach towns of Cofresí, Cabarete, and Sosúa boast the best in sun, sand and of course, surf. In fact, Cabarete is nicknamed “The Kiteboard Capital of the World” because it offers consistent eastern trade winds and warm water, ideal for any water sports enthusiast. Here, visitors aren’t tourists, but travelers – where late-night merengue dancing, thrilling eco-adventure, chic accommodations, luxe pampering, prehistoric culture and warm hospitality all collide. For more information on Puerto Plata, visit the DR Ministry of Tourism’s official website: www.GoDominicanRepublic.com.
