Marks the Brand’s First Return since Its Recent Resurrection in the U.S. After 30 Year Hiatus
Los Angeles, Calif., – January 5, 2010 – This week, for the first time since the recent re-launch of Lightning Bolt, the iconic 1970s surf brand, team riders and key brand executives will make a pilgrimage to its roots in Hawaii in order to shoot its spring/summer 2010 catalog, surf the North Shore and bring the aloha of the Bolt back to its point of conception, where it belongs.
The European Lightning Bolt team will travel to Hawaii to join forces with USA Bolt team, which includes: Pipeline master and original Bolt team rider, Rory Russell; Lightning Bolt, USA president and surfing world champion, Jonathan Paskowitz; and Bolt surfer and songwriter, Dustin Franks. The European crew includes team riders: Txaber Trojaola (Spain), Jeremy Brasset (France), Jord Formann (Holland), Nicolas Pinot (France) and Portuguese team riders, David Raimundo, Pedro Soares and Alexandre Ferreira.
“This is the first time that our teams will surf consistently together for a solid duration of time – it’s going to be amazing to see them thrive off of each other’s energy. For this initial alliance to take place in Lightning Bolt’s birth place is sure to make it even more exciting,” says TMG-SA and Lightning Bolt, Europe president, Manuel Goncalves. “We anticipate some really memorable shots for the upcoming catalog that will include all of the iconic North Shore landmarks as we are scheduled to cover major ground and shoot everywhere we can from the Makaha west side to the North Shore.”
“With Rory behind the shaping and creation of the OG Pipeliner surfboards that we are providing our riders, the next couple of weeks will be an insane collision of past and present. Since the re-launch in the US, we’ve received nothing but stoke and positive feedback – we are beyond psyched about bringing the brand back to its homeland and dominate the North Shore once again,” adds Jonathan Paskowitz, president of Lightning Bolt, USA.
Over the course of the next two weeks, plan to see jaw-dropping action shots from the collaborative Europe and USA Lightning Bolt surf team from surf filmer and producer, Chris Borgnine; lifestyle shots from the beach and nightlife, including bikini-clad Bolt babes, Dominique Fletcher and Brooke Dombronski, shot by photographer extraordinaire, Nick Walker; Lightning Bolt parties; and aloha being spread throughout the island. In the tradition and spirit of Aloha, Lightning Bolt plans to be respectful of residents by limiting and alternating the amount of riders and equipment in each area at all times.
