Presented by Subaru, Third Annual Festival Draws Southern California Surf Lovers to Doheny State Beach to Raise Funds for Local State Parks

2014 Event Features Surf Legends, Exhibitions, Beer Garden, Live Music and More!

(Dana Point, CA – May 29, 2014) The Doheny Surf Festival organizers today announced the Southern California surf festival will return to Doheny State Beach in Dana Point this summer. Presented by Subaru, the 2014 festival promises a jam packed weekend of activities for all ages to celebrate Doheny’ s legendary surf history while raising funds for local State Parks. The festival is FREE and open to the public and runs from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29.

Produced by the Doheny State Beach Interpretive Association (DSBIA) and Utopia Entertainment, and presented by Subaru, the Doheny Surf Festival raises greatly needed funds for local State Parks, including Doheny State Beach.

“It was one of the best events we participated in all year reaching our customers in the best possible way,” said Subaru’s Tim Murphy. “We’re proud to support this cause and we’re looking forward to working with the DSBIA and the Doheny Surf Festival in the future.”

This year’s lineup includes tandem demonstrations, nose riding exhibitions and a legends expression session as well as a great lineup of music performances by Common Sense, Trevor Green, and Aloha Radio on the Unplugged Stage, sponsored by Still Water. The 2014 Vendor Village features an art walk, more than 100 surf and beach vendors, a kids’ area, food trucks, a Classic Woody Car Show, the Kona Beer Garden, and new this year, hundreds of vintage and collectible surf boards will be available for viewing, and purchase, in “Surf Collector’s Alley.”

Terry Martin “Concours d’Elegance” Exhibition – The public is invited to bring a board shaped by Terry and participate in the exhibition ride on Sunday. Register in advance at the HOBIE booths with a $20 donation to the “Sport of Kings” Foundation in memory of Terry.

“The Doheny Surf Festival embraces the surf culture,” said California State Parks representative Lori Coble. “What was once a small community of surfers has grown to what we know today as the Southern California lifestyle. From surf exhibitions to surfing memorabilia, surfing related clothing, art, music and the worldwide Aloha vibe of surfers shared via a live Hawaiian hula show.
