(Honolulu, HI) Hurley and Contrast Magazine are proud to present the 4th annual The Anti-Canvas: a showcase of boardshort art for charity on Friday December 7, 2012 at Soho Mixed Media Bar which is located on 80 Pauahi Street.
The event will be held alongside Chinatown’s First Friday Art Walk and proceeds will benefit Pow Wow Hawai‘i and the Kokua Hawai‘i Foundation. Doors open at 5 pm for the art show and silent auction. Entry is free before 9:30 pm, and the after party will follow the event until 2 am.
The Anti-Canvas: a showcase of boardshort art for charity utilizes “sublimation” to transfer original artwork from 30 local and international artists onto a pair of Hurley Phantom board shorts. This manufacturing method preserves the integrity and details of the original artwork and designs. Some of the top artists this year include Rob Machado, Jason Maloney, Mandy Garcia, Mike Ledger, Ekundayo and many more. Please find a full list of artists participating in the 4th annual The Anti-Canvas: a showcase of boardshort art for charity below.
This unique art event raised $10,000 dollars for various charities since 2009. Last year, the Anti-Canvas generated $3,095 for Pow Wow Hawaii and Japan Disaster Relief.
