Casio G'Zone Hosts Experience in Surf Craftsmanship
NEW YORK, NY – On Thursday March 18, 2010 CASIO G’zOne (pronounced Jeez-wun), the industry leader in water and shock resistant mobile devices, hosted a film screening and exhibition. As a passionate supporter of the Surf Community, its only fitting the event take place at Saturdays, a local surf shop in Soho.
In the summer of 2009, CASIO G’zOne ventured out to York, Maine to test the capabilities of the CASIO G’zOne RockÔ and BrigadeÔ cell phones. While on this quest, the team visited the Grain Surfboards workshop. Grain Surfboards are best known for combining traditional boat-building techniques with local, sustainable wood and modern surfboard shaping. The result was a short film and product photography (shot by Ito) illustrating this groundbreaking and innovative technology.
The warmest day of the season beaconed attendees to Saturdays’ backyard for the film screening and an exclusive Q&A with Grain Surfboards founders Mike LaVecchia and Brad Anderson. CASIOG G’zOne sponsored surfer Karina Petroni, New York City’s Surfing elite, as well as friends and tastemakers enjoyed the exhibition and experienced the latest in CASIO G’zOne cell phones, the Rock and Brigade.
