The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing is officially underway with some solid surf at Haleiwa Ali’i Beach Park for the Reef Hawaiian Pro. The swell began filling in yesterday, but competition was put on hold until today so that competitors could attend the memorial service for Andy Irons on Kauai. Opening day has shown good surf for the first rounds as well as for the Clash of the Legends heat which pitted champions Tom Curren, Sunny Garcia, Tom Carroll, and Mark Occhilupo against one another.
