CLOUDBREAK, Tavarua/Fiji (Thursday, June 7, 2012) – With virtually no swell on offer today at the primary venue of Cloudbreak, Volcom Fiji Pro event organizers have called competition off for the day but the anticipation is building around the island camps for what’s in store over the next several days.

Stop No. 4 of 10 on the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour, the Volcom Fiji Pro has completed in the opening 22 heats of competition and could recommence as early as tomorrow.

“Very little on offer out there today so we’ve called a lay day,” Matt Wilson, Volcom Fiji Pro Event Director, said. “Swell models are still indicating a significant system to move in tomorrow and peak tomorrow night with waves throughout the weekend. We’ll be back tomorrow to assess conditions..”

Surfline, official forecasters for the Volcom Fiji Pro, are calling for a very significant, long period South-southwest swell to move in on Friday the 8th.

Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 6:30am to assess conditions for a possible 8:30am start.

When competition resumes, up first will be Bede Durbidge (AUS), 29, up against Adam Melling (AUS), 27, in Heat 11 of Round 2.
