U.S. Winners to Compete in Quiksilver ‘King of the Groms’ Global Finals in France This Fall

U.S. NATIONAL QUALIFIER ARRIVES IN HUNTINGTON BEACH


Huntington Beach, Calif. (June 12, 2012) – Quiksilver’s ‘King of the Groms’ 2012 U.S. is set to launch the national qualifying event at 9th Street in Huntington Beach on Monday, June 25 at 7:00 am. While showcasing the best young surf talent ages 16 and under, Quiksilver’s ‘King of the Groms’ U.S. is one of the most unique surf competitions in the world, offering the skins format and $100 per heat winner. Winners from each of the regional qualifying events held in Brazil, Tahiti, Europe, the U.S. and in other countries throughout the world will move on to compete at the prestigious global final held at the Quiksilver Pro France September 28 – October 8.

“This year’s KOG is going to be a really fun event to watch,” said Quiksilver Surf Team Manager, Chad Wells. “There are so many kids from all over the country and they surf at such a high level for under 16, there is no way to tell who will come out on top.” Wells continues, “It is going to be a serious battle to become the 2012 King of The Groms!”

The U.S. winner claims the title Quiksilver ‘King of The Groms U.S,’ prize money, as well as the chance to compete at the Quiksilver King of the Groms Global Finals in France during the Quiksilver Pro France, stop #8 on the ASP World Tour. Past grom winnershave included Cameron Richards (2011, U.S.), Josh Moniz (Hawaii, 2010), Gabriel Medina (Brazil, 2009), and Maxime Huscenot (2008, France).
