Marc Lacomare Places Second at Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge

FMG surfer and current European Pro Junior Champion Marc Lacomare, 19, from Hossegor, France, once again reached the final of the prestigious Oakley Global Junior Challenge, held at Keramas, Bali from October 7th to 17th.

After making the final in 2008 where he was runner up to Hawaiian Dusty Payne, Marc had his sights firmly set on a win this year. After overcoming various tough heats against surfers such as Alejo Muniz from Brazil and surfing solidly in the perfect right hand waves of Keramas, Marc couldn’t capitalize on his earlier performances in the final where he lost to Australian surfer Sam Wrench.

This is non-the-less a great result for Marc who only won the European Pro Junior Championships a little over a month ago and it will give him further confidence going into the Billabong World Junior Championships in Narrabeen, Australia at the beginning of January 2010.

Says Marc: “I started well in the final and I felt really confident. After coming second in 2008 I really wanted a win this year. Sam however found some good tube rides in the last ten minutes of our heat. I was waiting for a bomb, which unfortunately never came. I’m a little disappointed, but if I do well in a qualifier next year I might have one last shot. I just wanted to thank the guys from Oakley. It was once more an incredible event and we all had a blast.”
