¬The Quiksilver City Of Newport Beach Championships Presented By Jack’s Surfboards Goes Down at 54th Street

| posted on September 30, 2011

Huntington Beach, CA (September 27, 2010) - For more than two decades, the Quiksilver City of Newport Beach Championships presented by Jack’s Surfboards has arrived with the final days of summer and is always met with open arms and toothy grins by Orange County surfers and fans alike.

Paying homage to the Hottest 100 Yards in Surfi¬¬ng, the Quiksilver City of Newport Beach Championships presented by Jack’s Surfboards sheds light on the monumental impact Newport Beach has had on the sport and the surf industry as a whole. One of surfing’s most colorful and historical haunts, it’s only fitting that the event has grown such a strong presence in the area.

This year, despite the surf offering up small-but-contestable conditions, the contest once again proved to be a major success. Held over the course of two days, the competition kicked off at Newport’s famed 54th Street where the 133 competitors representing seven different age divisions were able to relish in the empty lineup.

Quiksilver’s Surf Team Manager Chad Wells was excited about the weekend’s tremendous turnout.

“Newport is where Quiksilver’s roots started,” said Wells. “It’s great to be back at 54th again this year – there’s nothing better than seeing the local talent come out and tear up the surf.”

We would like to extend a special thank you to Quiksilver, Jack’s Surfboards, The City of Newport Beach, Felt Bikes, Surfer, Brillo Productions, and Surfline for once again making The Newport Beach Championships an incredible event.
